System Performance Analysis
OVERVIEW
If your system is not collecting the way it used to, or a machine that was always fine has started leaving dust behind, a performance analysis will tell you why. We measure what the system is actually doing, compare it against what the application requires, and identify specifically where the performance is being lost.
WHY IT MATTERS
Dust collection problems are rarely where they appear. A machine that stopped collecting properly may be the symptom of a branch added elsewhere in the plant, a loaded filter, a slipping fan belt, or material accumulation in a duct run nobody has opened in years. Replacing equipment before diagnosing the cause is expensive and frequently does not solve the problem.
WHAT AN ANALYSIS COVERS
- Airflow Measurement — Actual volume and velocity measured at hoods, branches, and mains, compared against design and application requirements.
- Static Pressure Readings — Pressure across the system to locate restrictions, accumulation, and filter loading.
- Capture Efficiency — Evaluation of hood design and placement at the point of dust generation.
- Equipment Condition — Fan performance, filter condition, cleaning system function, and general equipment health.
- Energy & Efficiency — Identification of where the system is consuming more power than the result justifies.
- Capacity Assessment — Whether the system can support planned equipment additions or production changes.
- Findings & Recommendations — A clear account of what we measured, what it means, and what we would do about it.
BEFORE YOU ADD OR REPLACE
An analysis is worth doing before you add equipment to an existing system, before you replace a collector you suspect is undersized, and any time collection performance has changed without an obvious cause. In many cases the fix is smaller and less expensive than what was assumed.
